Try going to the shops anywhere in Werriwa at the moment—What a mission.
Firstly, you have to contend with those Liberal Sam Kayal “how to vote” flyers waiting on your doorstep as you walk out the front door. Then, if you’re lucky, you’ll only see Sam Kayal’s face 15 times before you get to your local shops, with what seems like endless amounts of corflute signs polluting the area.
Once you get to the door of the shops of course, you’re also very likely to come across at least three blue shirts telling you it’s “Time for a change” and asking, “Do you know Sam?” Some say it’s borderline harassment in Werriwa right now from the Liberals.
I’ve received no less than six glossy printed flyers telling me how wonderful Sam is in the past six weeks. Sure, fine, he is a great bloke, but did we have to cut down half a forest in paper to tell us how good he is?
Of course, it’s not the first time we’ve seen campaigns like this across the Liverpool LGA is it? Doesn’t this remind you of one of those special Liberal Ned Mannoun campaigns? Lots of corflute headshots littered everywhere, and then come the big promises—”surplus” this and we are the best choice…. Sam Kayal has certainly followed and has been clipping off millions around Werriwa, all promised on a “Liberal Win.”
I have to say, he makes it look easy. It really feels like it’s his own money being spent, and not for a second is it ever considered that it’s our taxpayer dollars getting sprayed off on the promises. We all work hard for that money, and the biggest thing I have learned about money in my lifetime is “spend it very wisely.” Has Sam been spending it wisely? I have to say I am not convinced.
During the campaign I have also witnessed things in Werriwa that I am personally not OK with. The footage on social media showing signs from other parties being ripped down and replaced with signs of another candidate is quite intimidating. Sadly, it’s resulted in some of the other political parties having to scale trees to post signs where it’s harder for them to be ripped down by the competition. It seems in Werriwa it’s WIN AT ALL COSTS this year.
It’s not my business to tell anyone how to vote, but after watching Werriwa with great interest in the lead-up to polling day this Saturday, I can comfortably say that my vote won’t be going to Sam Kayal. I think we have far better candidates in Werriwa.
I get the feeling this election is quite important to our local area, and I would encourage you to make up your own mind based on what you want for your family. Don’t vote for a party or a religion; vote based on who you think will navigate us through one of the most challenging times we have here. With a new airport coming and a lot changing in our area, it’s important we have the very best representation. I wish you the best in your vote.

I am sure other political parties are doing exactly the same. Stop bagging the Liberal party because you want to see another 3 years of incompetence.
