In a significant step forward for education in South-West Sydney, Member for Liverpool Charishma Kaliyanda has unveiled exciting concept designs for the new Liverpool High School, marking a transformative moment in the region’s educational landscape.

The ambitious project will merge the existing Liverpool Boys and Girls High Schools into a state-of-the-art co-educational campus, designed to accommodate 2,000 students. This development comes at a crucial time when Australian education statistics show a growing trend towards larger, more comprehensive educational facilities, with national school enrolments increasing by 1.1% in 2024 alone.

The new campus will feature:

  • Advanced teaching spaces
  • Cutting-edge specialist facilities
  • A modern library complex
  • Specialised health profession pathways
  • Enhanced higher education preparation facilities

“The release of these designs is another important step in realising Liverpool’s potential as a hub of modern public education,” said Ms Kaliyanda. “We’re creating more than just a school – we’re building a foundation for Liverpool’s future.”

Community-Driven Development

The project’s success stems from extensive community consultation, with local families strongly supporting the transition to co-educational learning. This aligns with current educational trends in New South Wales, where schools are adapting to meet changing community needs and expectations.

The new high school will be strategically located adjacent to the recently opened Gulyangarri Public School, forming part of an impressive educational precinct. This development contributes to the Minns Labor Government’s commitment to delivering 100 public preschools across the state.

Educational Hub Statistics

According to the latest Australian Bureau of Statistics data (2024):

  • NSW has seen a 0.5% increase in overall student enrolments
  • The student-to-teacher ratio nationally stands at 12.9:1
  • Government schools continue to be the primary education provider, serving 63.4% of students

Interested families are invited to attend a community information session on 13 March 2025, between 3 pm and 6 pm at the Liverpool Boys and Girls High Schools’ library to ask questions about the development and provide direct feedback

“With the brand-new Gulyangarri Public School and preschool next door, a local TAFE, and four universities set to call Liverpool home, we are well on our way to cementing our city’s status as a cradle-to-PhD education precinct,” Ms Kaliyanda emphasised.

This development represents a significant investment in Liverpool’s educational future, positioning the area as a premier education hub in South-West Sydney. The project aligns with broader educational trends showing increased demand for comprehensive, modern educational facilities across Australia.

For more information about the community information session or to provide feedback, local families are encouraged to attend the 13 March event.
