Sydney Trains has announced major drainage upgrade works in Liverpool, scheduled to run for two months from 17 March to 16 May 2025. The project aims to enhance service reliability through comprehensive drainage cleaning and installation of new systems.

Key Work Periods

  • Regular works: Monday to Friday, 7 am to 5 pm
  • Special weekend operations:
    • 22-23 March: Saturday 4 am to Sunday 11 pm
    • 3-4 May: Saturday 4 am to Sunday 11 pm

Community Impact

Parking Changes

Residents and commuters should note that the carpark at the intersection of Speed Street and Pirie Street will be closed during two periods:

Traffic Modifications

  • Work zones will be established along Riverpark Drive, affecting both vehicle and pedestrian access
  • Heavy vehicles will be operating on local streets
  • Traffic controllers will be present to manage traffic flow and ensure safety
  • While crews will prioritise parking within the rail corridor, some impact on street parking near worksites is expected

Noise Considerations

Local residents should be prepared for increased noise levels, particularly during night works and weekend operations. Equipment deliveries may occur outside standard hours due to restrictions on large vehicle movements during peak times.

Additional Information

The project team acknowledges that some finishing work and equipment removal may extend beyond the stated completion date of 16 May. Sydney Trains has emphasised their commitment to minimising disruption to the community while completing these essential infrastructure improvements.

For the duration of the works, Sydney Trains thanks the community for their understanding and cooperation as they work to improve the reliability of the rail network.
