On the evening of January 16, 2025, a tragic single-vehicle crash occurred in Hoxton Park, Sydney, resulting in the death of a 16-year-old male passenger. Emergency services responded to reports of the accident around 8:30 PM on Hoxton Park Road, where a black Subaru sedan left the roadway and collided with a tree.
Incident Details
Upon arrival, officers from the Liverpool City Police Area Command found the driver, a 19-year-old man, injured and receiving treatment from NSW Ambulance paramedics. He was subsequently transported to the hospital. Sadly, the front passenger, a 16-year-old male, was pronounced dead at the scene. Another 16-year-old male passenger sustained minor injuries and was also taken to the hospital for treatment.
A crime scene has been established, and authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash. The police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with relevant CCTV, dashcam, or mobile phone footage to come forward and assist with the investigation. Hoxton Park Road was closed in both directions for several hours as emergency services worked at the scene.
UPDATE 10:03PM (17/1) Following an investigation by officers attached to the Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit, police charged the 19-year-old male driver with dangerous driving occasioning death – drive speed dangerous.
The man was refused bail to appear before Parramatta Local Court on Saturday 18 January 2025.
