The M7 Motorway at Cecil Hills will undergo essential bridge concrete pour activities this weekend, resulting in significant traffic changes. Here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming works and how it might affect your journey.
Timeline
The works are scheduled to take place from 8:00 PM on Friday, February 28 until 8:00 AM on Sunday, March 2, 2025. This 36-hour period has been carefully planned to minimize disruption to weekday commuter traffic.
Location and Impact
The affected area is located approximately one kilometer south of Elizabeth Drive on the M7 Motorway at Cecil Hills. During the works, there will be temporary lane closures affecting:
- Northbound right lane
- Southbound right lane
Changes for Heavy Vehicle Operators
Oversize Overmass (OSOM) Vehicles
If you operate an OSOM vehicle under notice, you will need to follow a designated detour route via either:
- The Horsley Drive, or
- Elizabeth Drive and Cowpasture Road
Class 2 Vehicles
Good news for Class 2 vehicle operators – you will not be affected by the detours and can continue to use the M7 Motorway as usual.
Permit Holders
For vehicles operating under specific permits, please note:
- You must strictly adhere to your approved route
- If you need to deviate from your approved route, you must obtain an updated permit from the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR)
- Operating outside your permitted route without proper authorization is not allowed
