The NSW Government and Liverpool City Council have joined forces to deliver a stunning transformation of Angle Park in Chipping Norton, dramatically improving access to the Georges River and enhancing the park’s appeal as a community hub.

The improved facilites were presented to the public this week by Member for Fowler Dai Le, Deputy Mayor Peter Harle, Liverpool Councillor Dr Betty Green and newly elected Member for Hughes Mr David Moncriffe.

“Angle Park has long been a favourite spot for sailing, boat launching, and family picnics. The massive upgrade means better accessibility, improved landscaping, and a more stable and enjoyable environment for everyone. It’s now even easier to enjoy a picnic on the riverbank, and Liverpool Council is grateful to the NSW Government for supporting this project” a Council Spokesperson said.

The $1 million upgrade was made possible by a $750,000 grant from the NSW Government’s Places to Swim program, which has been improving access to rivers, lakes, and inland waterways across the state since 2021. The program aims to create more opportunities for water-side recreation, and Angle Park’s transformation is a shining example of its success.

Minister for Planning and Public Spaces Paul Scully emphasised the long-term benefits of the project for the local community.

“Whether it’s kayaking, paddle boarding, or swimming, the improved access to Angle Park will future-proof this popular spot, ensuring residents of Liverpool and surrounding suburbs can enjoy it for many years to come,” Minister Scully said. “The upgrades have built on Angle Park’s reputation as a weekend hotspot, providing better access to the Georges River for a dip, while also delivering fantastic new terraced seating and picnic areas for year-round enjoyment.”

The improvements include better pathways, terraced seating, picnic tables, and beautifully landscaped native areas. Accessibility has been a key focus, with new features such as gentle incline ramps, handrails, fall prevention measures, and improved lighting at night. A wheelchair-friendly ramp now connects accessible parking to Angle Park Wharf, ensuring everyone can enjoy the park’s offerings.

With these upgrades, Angle Park is set to remain a beloved destination for families, friends, and outdoor enthusiasts alike. Whether you’re looking to relax by the river, enjoy a picnic, or dive into water activities, the revamped park offers something for everyone.

So, grab your picnic blanket, pack your gear, and head to Angle Park to experience the incredible transformation for yourself. The Georges River has never been more inviting!
